A TASTE OF ART
A Taste of Art is an art show and sale to benefit the Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture. Located in Cedar City, Utah, Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture is a 501c3 whose mission is to promote and advocate for the exposure, education, and success of urban and rural farms throughout Utah.
We are seeking artists in all media to represent farming and farm life through their art. Art must be farm related, but can include people, animals, landscapes, crops, farm events, etc. Artists will be required to create pieces that depict scenes or impressions of participating farms (a list of farms will be provided.) Artists will have the opportunity to create en plein air at these farms, but may also find their subjects from social media posts the farms have shared. We are scheduling farm/ranch specific access starting in April 2024 through February 2025, allowing artists to capitalize on the beauty of all four seasons in Utah.
Organizers of the event will select the art to be included in the show. Participating artists are asked to donate a work of art in support of Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture. Artists will receive 50% of the sale amount with 50% going to the Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture. Of course, if you would like to donate your art fully or take a lesser percentage with a larger portion going to Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture, that would do much toward their ongoing mission. In an effort to offer affordable art to event patrons, we are suggesting artists' donations be valued no more than $1200. Event coordinators will set the final price of the art with consideration of the artist’s suggested retail value of their donation. Any unsold art will go back to the artist. All flat art is to be framed, simply and economically, so as not to inflate the retail value of the piece too greatly. Artists will arrange for shipment or delivery of their art. Delivery instructions will come at a later date.
A Taste of Art will also feature food and drink purveyors from Utah to include farmers, chefs, wineries and distillers — all of whom will donate certain portions of their offerings toward the event. A Taste of Art will take place on March 20, 2025 at one of the participating farms. The host farm (TBD) will donate the use of their facility for this event. Many other supporters of the Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture’s are donating their time and expertise to this event as well.
Deadlines are as follows:
Apply to [email protected] with your website or Instagram address, or attach up to six images to the email. No Facebook please. Tell us a little about your art and yourself in the email.
February 15, 2024 — Last day to apply for A Taste of Art
February 28, 2024 — Artists will be notified of acceptance
March 2024 — A Taste of a Taste of Art Preview Reception will take place in the Salt Lake City area (location, date and time TBD) All participating artists and farmers will be invited to attend. This will be an opportunity to mingle with the participating farmers and artists, and learn more about Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture. Hors d’oeuvres and non alcoholic beverages will be served. A number of wineries and distilleries from Utah will also offer sophisticated concoctions for purchase during the event.
A Taste of Art 2025 — Thursday, March 20, 2025 Location TBD
Additional deadlines to follow.

ABOUT US...
The ISA is a Utah non-profit corporation that was founded on April 9, 1969. We provide an environment for artists that inspires, challenges, educates, encourages and assists them in the pursuit of excellence in the creation, enjoyment and sharing of art in the intermountain area.
Why Join ISA? There are several reasons to join ISA! Our Members make it successful! Everyone can participate at every level to make our ISA grow! It is run by Members for the Members. It's fun to socialize with other artists in a relaxed setting and by attending the meetings, you can learn about various art techniques and processes. Often you can have a "hands on" experience by painting along with the visiting artist. We also hold critiques where you bring your own work to the monthly meetings and get friendly feedback on your work. By participating in the ISA, you'll make contacts that can lead to life-long friendships, help the organization grow and thrive, and help you in your journey to becoming a better artist! Achieving Member of Merit in ISA can propel you forward into the professional world of art where you learn about getting your work into galleries and how to post your artwork images on the web. There are lots of resources and people to help! Come join us! |
